NFL Week 16 picks, odds: Rodgers makes MVP statement on Christmas, Patriots hand Bills another bitter defeat

NFL Week 16 picks, odds: Rodgers makes MVP statement on Christmas, Patriots hand Bills another bitter defeat

Week 15 is up there in terms of the most insanely bizarre NFL weeks I’ve ever seen. Obviously having two games Monday and two games Tuesday is a good start to that,

The Texans scored 30 points in a cakewalk victory, the Lions beat the Cardinals and Tom Brady scored zero points in a home, prime-time loss. It was a weird week all around, fittingly coming in the longest week in NFL history.

Hopefully everyone can have a winning and happy Christmas, and in the spirit of Christmas miracles, I’m going to write up fewer of these picks and toss some scores for meaningless games at the bottom.

My ATS record against the spread this year is just awful, but 9-5 last week is strong. A strong close to the season can salvage this year ATS so let’s get hot over the holidays.

Tennessee Titans
+3.5

Week 15 featured plenty of underdogs barking loudly, so I’m a little hesitant to jump onto a road favorite on a short week. But the 49ers are starting to cook. Deebo Samuel appears to be the catalyst for this run game, with his presence in the backfield wrecking havoc on opposing defenses. Kyle Shanahan’s playcalling has been outstanding and the Niners appear to have a pretty good stable of backs capable of producing on a weekly basis — with Elijah Mitchell out, Jeff Wilson stepped up nicely against the Falcons. Tennessee has been good against the run this season but the 49ers should be able to stretch them horizontally. The one thing I’d be wary of if you’re backing Jimmy Garoppolo and Co.

NFL Week 16 injuries: Mike Evans out; Darren Waller doubtful; Adam Thielen questionable

NFL Week 16 injuries: Mike Evans out; Darren Waller doubtful; Adam Thielen questionable

The NFL is attempting to manage copious amounts of positive COVID-19 tests, and several contenders are dealing with injuries as well. Bumps and bruises are beginning to mount, as all 32 teams are playing through pain. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are one of those contenders trying to weather a rash of injuries, as they lost Chris Godwin for the season, placed Leonard Fournette on injured reserve and will be without star wideout Mike Evans this week as well.

Below, we will break down the final injury reports for all 30 NFL teams set to kick off this weekend. Remember, we have a Christmas double-header, so four teams will be playing on Saturday. If you have a question about who’s in and who’s out in Week 16, we have you covered.

The Browns are hurting defensively, and may be without their best player. Garrett is questionable with his groin injury and did not practice all week, while Johnson has already been ruled out with a hamstring injury. The Browns did activate Baker Mayfield and Jarvis Landry, so they’ve got that going for them.

For the Packers, Bakhtiari is not yet ready to make his 2021 debut. Wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown on the other hand passed concussion protocol and is ready to roll. Green Bay also gets back defensive lineman Kenny Clark, who was on the COVID list last week.

The Colts will be without Sendejo and Kelly on Christmas. Sendejo is still dealing with a concussion while Kelly is attending to a personal matter.

For the Cardinals, the storyline is Conner, who did not practice at all this week and is listed as questionable. Thankfully, Arizona returned Chase Edmonds to the lineup earlier this month. Moore is another player to keep an eye

How Many Days a Week Do I Need to Workout to Notice a Difference?

How Many Days a Week Do I Need to Workout to Notice a Difference?

Some people spend hours at the gym several times a week, while others barely have the time and energy to fit in one session. But both types of gym-goers can be equally frustrated by not seeing results. So what’s the ultimate sweet spot when it comes to how often a person should work out?

The answer to that depends on different factors, such as the physical activity you choose to do. Physical activity is defined as “any bodily movement produced by the contraction of skeletal muscle that increases energy expenditure above a basal level,” according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Exercise is a “planned, structured, repetitive” form of physical activity that’s performed with the goal of improving health or fitness.

“Although all exercise is physical activity, not all physical activity is exercise,” the department explains.

Of course some physical activity is better than none but “regular moderate-to-vigorous physical activity” reduces the risk of many adverse health outcomes, the HHS says.

How Many Days a Week Do I Need to Workout?

How often a person should work out will depend on the fitness level of the individual as well as their fitness goals, from losing weight to building muscle.

It’s good to aim for at least 30 minutes of “moderate physical activity every day,” according to the Mayo Clinic’s Dr. Edward Laskowski, who is certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and is a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine.

For those who don’t have time, even “brief bouts of activity” offers health benefits. So, you can swap a 30-minute walk during the day with several five-minute walks instead, he says.

However, “if you want to lose weight, maintain weight loss or meet specific fitness goals, you may

Fantasy Football Week 9 Sleepers: Jeremy McNichols best bet to fill Derrick Henry void, plus DFS lineups

Fantasy Football Week 9 Sleepers: Jeremy McNichols best bet to fill Derrick Henry void, plus DFS lineups

I’m curious to see how the Titans plan to replace Derrick Henry (foot), who is out for 6-10 weeks. It doesn’t appear like offensive coordinator Todd Downing wants to change things in Tennessee, even with Henry not on the field.

On Thursday, Downing said, “I’d be doing the offense a disservice if I jerked the wheel on our identity at this point of the season with Derrick Henry out.”

It sounds like Downing still wants to lean on the ground game, which bodes well for either Adrian Peterson or Jeremy McNichols. For now, give me McNichols heading into Week 9 at the Rams — and maybe the rest of the year.

McNichols will be the one playing on passing downs. And despite what Downing said, I expect the Titans to be forced to throw the ball more with Henry sidelined. That will likely happen Sunday night against the Rams if the Titans are chasing points as expected.

McNichols already has at least three catches in four games this season. He should get the chance to carry the ball more as well, and he’s a nice sleeper for Week 9.

We’ll see what happens with Peterson, who is 36 and last played for the Lions in 2020. He could be the best running back for the Titans, and maybe he keeps Tennessee’s run game afloat.

But I’m skeptical to trust Peterson, which is why I’d lean toward McNichols, who has been Henry’s backup all season. I’m hoping McNichols steps up and takes over for Henry in Week 9 and beyond.

McNichols is one of my favorite sleepers in Week 9.

Panthers at Falcons

Open: Falcons -1, O/U 47.5
Current: Falcons -3, O/U 46.5

“This pick is more about fading the Panthers than it is riding the Falcons. Sam Darnold is flailing under center for Carolina and it’s hard to watch. He even got benched in the fourth quarter last week during the Panthers’ 25-3 loss to the New York Giants. I don’t think he’s going to be able to rebound. I was optimistic about Darnold coming to Carolina, and thought he could pull a “Ryan Tannehill.” Seven weeks in, and I’m out. It’s not all his fault, as the offensive line is atrocious. The offensive struggles have also negatively affected the defense. In Weeks 1-3, the Panthers ranked
