Premier League predictions: Jones Knows says Chelsea will drop more points away to Wolves | Football News

Fresh from some midweek winners, Jones Knows takes aim at the Premier League matches this weekend with Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool in action on Sunday.

Any midweek winners for Jones Knows?

  • Aston Villa to win 2-0 vs Norwich at 8/1
  • Antonio Rudiger to have two or more shots vs Everton at 7/4
  • Arsenal to win 2-0 vs West Ham at 9/1
  • Southampton to win five or more corners at 5/4

Wolves vs Chelsea, Sunday 2pm

Chelsea are out to 8/1 with Sky Bet to win the Premier League title. They were 15/8 in November.

To some that might look an attractive price for the Champions League holders who are just four points off the top spot. However, over the past month there have been signs emerging that Thomas Tuchel’s boys are just a level below Manchester City and Liverpool, to the extent now that I’d be very surprised if they don’t finish third.

Tuchel was at a loss to explain how they didn’t comfortably beat Everton on Thursday, calling it a freak result. It’s true they found Jordan Pickford in top form but what worried me was their lack of sustained, quality attacks in the final 20 minutes when they were chasing a winner. It was the same in the 3-2 win over Leeds where two Jorginho penalties got them out of jail. Chelsea are seemingly finding it tough to break through low block defences without the influence and natural goal instincts of Romelu Lukaku.

And, well-organised low blow defences don’t come tighter than Wolves, who could be set to send Tuchel’s frustrations levels off the scale in this one. Bruno Lage’s team have conceded only 14 goals this season – only Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool have shipped fewer.

I can see this game going down a familiar

Just 10 games into the Steve Sarkisian era at Texas, the Longhorns matched a historic low on Saturday night with a 57-56 loss to Kansas in overtime. It was Texas’ fifth straight loss, marking the first time the Longhorns have dropped five straight since … 1956! Kansas, meanwhile, picked up its first Big 12 road win since 2008.

The last time Texas lost five straight games in 1956, Dwight D. Eisenhower was president, “The Ten Commandments” was the biggest movie in the world and the Longhorns’ lone win of the season was on the road against Tulane — an SEC program at the time. The last time Texas lost to Kansas in football was 2016, and coach Charlie Strong was fired at the end of that season.

Kansas scored 21 unanswered points during an 85-second flurry at the end of the first half thanks to a fumble and pick-six from freshman quarterback Hudson Card, one of two quarterbacks that the Longhorns used against the Jayhawks.

Texas came back from a 49-35 fourth quarter deficit to tie the game and force overtime thanks to some heroics from quarterback Casey Thompson. The upperclassman threw a touchdown to Cade Brewer with 22 seconds left to force overtime and completed an 8-yard pass to Marcus Washington in the first overtime. However, Kansas quarterback Jalon Daniels made an unbelievable play on a two-point conversion to clinch the win.

Daniels was brilliant in his first start of 2021 for the Jayhawks, throwing for 202 yards and three touchdowns in the win. Running back Devin Neal rushed for 143 yards and three touchdowns of his own to keep pace with the Longhorns. Texas quarterbacks Thompson and Card combined for four turnovers.

By the end of the fourth quarter, Kansas fans were chanting “S-E-C” at the
