TIBET
Tibet
has always been considered the most mysterious and inaccessible
place in the world. The term used to define it as the
"land of snow" explicitly identifies its geographic
position and the legendary reference in our collective
imagination as "the country beyond the Himalayan
snows". That remote, mythical place is today an accessible
destination which manages to conserve the seduction of
the legendary travel tales.
Dirt roads traverse the arid, stony plains, across sleepy
rivers, they ascend steep slopes, over impervious passes
and enter into narrow valleys of savage beauty. The beliefs
of the Tibetan people have populated the solitude of the
immense space and the singularity of the Himalayan environment
with spirits and mystical presence, and have given life
to an elaborate form of religious philosophy that has
always fascinated the western world.
NEPAL
Nepal is synonymous of the Himalayas, of high altitude
and therefore
trekking!
Without trekking, it would be impossible to discover this
country, to see the most inaccessible mountains close
up, the most hidden valleys, to get to know the most fascinating
people. An interminable web of paths guide the traveller
to discover the reality of this fascinating country: from
the green rice fields on the hills, to lush forests, to
snow covered peaks, to tiny villages where the inhabitants
welcome the visitor with a smile.
We propose some of the classic routes, among the most
spectacular (Annapurna, Everest, Helambu), suitable for
a first visit to Nepal. Or different, less frequented
areas (Dolpo, Kangchenjunga, Manaslu, Mustang, Kailas,
Rolwaling, Shey Gompa), offer a tempting chance for extraordinary
encounters and an unforgettable experience.
THE GREAT NORTH
The
Arctic region and the southern territories of Canada are
the last frontier available to the explorer. Their geographic
position creates unique environmental conditions that
man has still completely preserved, thanks to the creation
of protected areas and Natural Parks. We propose you get
to know a small part of this immense territory; enjoy
different experiences. The Rocky Mountains and the Yukon,
where wolves, caribou and moose are still the uncontested
masters in the immense forests, Baffin Island, where the
Inuit are our trusted guides in the discovery of life
on the Pack.
ANDES
An interminable dragon with a back of rock and ice sustains
the South American Continent. From Columbia to the Tierra
del Fuego, the Andes constitute a barrier between the
Pacific Ocean and the Amazonian forests and the Argentine
pampas. Within these mountains flourish fascinating and
mysterious civilizations, where archaeological finds reveal
their majesty and wealth. The descendants of these ancient
populations still live at altitudes of 4,000m on the impoverished
resources of the Andian plains.
CENTRAL ASIA
The
secret heart of Asia has remained a compulsory thoroughfare
for thousands of years at the mercy of nomad populations,
Cimmerians, Scythians and Mongols, sending their wild
cavalry to conquer the surrounding empires. The vastness
and silence were watched over by natural guardians: the
Tien Shan chains, the "Celestial Mountains",
and the Altai that terrorized the traveller along the
trading routes between East and West. Even today, the
Tien and the Altai appear as wild and impenetrable as
the past, territory of the Kazakhi nomads and the Kirghish
who drive their Bactrian camel caravans and their herds
of horses across the plateaux, setting up home in their
round, white yurts.
PAKISTAN
Karakorum, Hindukush - legendary names that marked the
borders of unexplored lands that the conquering armies
for centuries tried to cross. Impeded by the fertile plains
of the Ganges, they became historical symbols representing
invincible summits. In a handkerchief-sized piece of land
on the southern border of Pakistan, eight of the world's
highest mountains are concentrated: K2, the Gasherbrums,
Nanga Parbat, Baltoro and Broad Peak.
The arid nature of the land has forged the soul and character
of the populations that live here: Baluchi, Kohistani,
Kalash, Hunzakut, Balti. In their villages clinging to
the mountainous slopes, their eyes, their faces, recount
the history of these places.
