The year 2000 which celebrated
the SkyGames
in the Italian Alps also celebrated some very satisfactory exposure
both in print and tv.
British Running Fitness dedicated a cover and feature on the
event, Trans World Sport and national Italian television RAI,
broadcast programmes worldwide.
The Italian media reacted with an overwhelming coverage of the
event while websites and specialist press in many countries
dedicated space to the event.
Events last year offer extensive coverage of
major events on national television and in national magazines
and in particular, two important novelties: the Timberland SkyRaid
and the Polartec 24
Ascent Record.
Both events were televised and gained considerable support from
the media.
In France, the 24 Hour Ascent Record was broadcast on Antenne
3 and covered by the national press while the event, with an
Italian winner, was broadcast on Italian television and covered
in the monthly press.
A section was dedicated to skyrunning in a new
trail running book entitled "The ultimate guide to trail
running" written by FSA board member Nancy Hobbs, and trail
running expert Adam Chase.
2002 promises a series of important events
dedicated to the International
Year of the Mountains in which the FSA plays an important
role as partner in the sports programme in Italy. A series of
special events are planned throughout the year which will be
announced in October on this site.
