Initially, membership was granted only to those exceptional athletes that completed a SkyMarathon (a marathon reaching 4,000 metres or 13,000 feet).

With a view to reaching as many high altitude sports enthusiasts as possible, membership is now available to everyone at a cost of €20 (or $20 outside the EU) and offers a series of valuable benefits:

  • Personalised membership card
  • Free issue of the periodical FSA News at the end of the season
  • Access to FSA race information and brochure (when available)
  • Third party insurance in associated international FSA races
  • Possibility of personal injury insurance policy for racing and training
  • SkyDoc - access to medical and training information and online queries
  • SkyTravel - special discounts and packages to skyrunning races and high altitude destinations (eg the Everest SkyMarathon in Tibet)
  • Discounts on SkySchool courses
  • Subscription to the FSA internet site newsletter (your email address is required).

The FSA constitutes a series of committees and rules which can be viewed on this site. The federation also includes an important research project, which confirms the skyrunners as the most studied athletes. Members can contact FSA medical staff by email through our new SkyDoc service.

Collaboration with other federations includes, AATRA (All American Trail Running Association), CONI (National Italian Olympic Committee), FISI (Italian Winter Sports Federation), FEEC (Catalonian Federation of Excursionists), FFME (French Mountaineering Federation).

You can join the Federation online, in the secure site Active.com.
